According to Michael Russo of The Athletic, the Chicago Blackhawks are reportedly pursuing free agent LW Chris Kunitz, a 15-year veteran who spent the last NHL season with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Kunitz, 38, has played 966 career games, the majority of those with the Pittsburgh Penguins, which included all three of Pittsburgh’s Stanley Cup victories. Kunitz was also on the Anaheim Ducks when they won the Stanley Cup in 2007.

While playing for Tampa last season, Kunitz appeared in all 82 regular season games with 13 goals and 16 assists. He was not much of a contributor in the playoffs, though, picking up just one point on an assist in the 17 games he played during the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs while averaging 10:28 of ice time per game.

And a deeper look at Kunitz’s numbers aren’t going to be encouraging, as our former fearless leader Satchel Price pointed out on Twitter:

Free agency officially opens at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
