Chicago Blackhawks television color analyst Eddie Olczyk has had a whirlwind of a year.
Last August, he announced he was diagnosed with colon cancer. Treatment started soon after, keeping him away from the Blackhawks broadcasts on WGN and NBC Sports Chicago as well as his national broadcast duties with NBC Sports Network.
Olczyk appeared on a few broadcasts throughout the season as his health allowed before saying he was cancer-free in an emotional moment during the first intermission of a game in March against Vancouver.
Olczyk, who graduated from Brother Rice Catholic High School in Chicago and was drafted third overall by the Hawks in 1984, took to the mound Tuesday night at Wrigley Field to throw out the first pitch.
