The Chicago Blackhawks released their roster Monday for their upcoming 2018 prospect camp. Henri Jokiharju and 2018 Adam Boqvist are among the prospects who will be at MB Ice Arena from July 16-20 trying to impress the team’s management.
The sessions will be 1-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, followed by a 9:30 a.m. scrimmage Friday.
The roster includes 41 players, including 32 Chicago draft picks and all eight selections from last month’s draft. The Hawks draft picks listed is highlighted by their past three first-round picks in defenseman Jokiharju, Boqvist and Nicolas Beaudin. Jokiharju and Boqvist both are signed to three-year entry-level contracts, while Beaudin has yet to ink a deal.
Jokiharju, 19, posted career-highs in points (71), goals (12) and assists (59) in 63 games during his second season with the Portland Winterhawks the Western Hockey League.
Boqvist, who turns 18 on August 15, had 14 goals and 10 assists in 25 games for Brynas in the Sweden’s under-20 league. He will play for the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League next season.
Beaudin, who will be 19 in October, had a 28-point increase from his 2016-17 season in points with 69 (12 goals, 57 assists) for Drummondville Voltigeurs in the QMJHL. The left-handed shot defenseman is slated to return to Drummondville next season.
All the defenseman invited to the camp are Chicago prospects. The Hawks have invited three undrafted forwards Ryan Kuffner (Princeton), Kyle Maksimovich (OHL Erie) and Connor Moynihan (QMJHL Halifax). Maksimovich was scoreless in four games with the Rockford IceHogs last season after signing an AHL contract.
Chicago also invited four goaltenders that are not in its prospect system in Peyton Jones (Penn State), Chase Marchand (St. Francis Xavier University), Linden Marshall (RPI) and Mathew Robson (Minnesota).
