2019 World Championship: Blackhawks prospect Kevin Lankinen, Finland shut out France

Finland 3, France 0

Goalie prospect Kevin Lankinen made 21 saves against France for his first career shutout with Finland’s men’s national team. He’s 4-0 with a .957 save percentage in the tournament.

Defenseman Henri Jokiharju did not record a point for Finland.

Finland holds the top spot in Group A and has qualified for the quarterfinals along with Canada, Germany and the United States.

Czech Republic 8, Austria 0

Prospect Dominik Kubalik scored a goal and had two assists in the Czech Republic’s shutout win against Austria. Kubalik drove to the net and scored his third tally of the tournament to give the Czechs a 2-0 lead early. For his efforts, he was named the Czech Player of the Game. He has nine points (three goals, six assists) in six tournament games.

Former Blackhawks winger Michael Frolik had a goal and an assist to increase his point total to 12 (six goals, six assists) in the tournament.

United States 3, Germany 1

Patrick Kane recorded an assist in the United States’ win over Germany. Kane sent a cross-ice pass to Jack Eichel to give the American captain 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in the tournament.

American winger Alex DeBrincat and German winger Dominik Kahun did not record a point in the game.

Russia 3, Switzerland 0

Artem Anisimov scored his second goal of the tournament and had an assist in Russia’s win over Switzerland.

Dmitri Orlov rushed toward the net and sent a pass to Anisimov, who tapped it into the net less than four minutes into the game.

With Russia up 2-0 late in the third period, Anisimov backhanded pass to the slot for Nikita Kucherov to make it a three-goal game.

Prospect Philipp Kurashev did not score a point for Switzerland.

Russia leads Group B and has qualified for the quarterfinal round along with the Czech Republic and Switzerland.
