The Blackhawks winger Andreas Martinsen cleared waivers Saturday, reports Scott Powers of The Athletic. Martinsen is expected to report to the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL.

Martinsen has one goal and three assists in 24 games this season with Chicago. The 28-year-old has played a limited role on the fourth line, swapping in and out of the lineup with John Hayden.

The big-bodied Martinsen (6-foot-3, 229 pounds) signed a one-year contract extension worth $650,000 in June after scoring one goal and recording 35 hits in nine NHL games with Chicago. He also posted 28 points (12 goals, 16 assists) in 64 AHL games with the Rockford IceHogs. In 13 Calder Cup playoff games, he notched five points (two goals, three assists).

The move creates a roster spot for forward Drake Caggiula, who was acquired in a trade with the Oilers on Dec. 30. He has 11 points (seven goals, four assists) in 29 games this season.
