The Blackhawks assigned top prospect Kirby Dach to the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL for a conditioning stint.

Chicago placed Dach (concussion) on the injured/non-roster designation list prior to the team’s season opener Oct. 3 in Prague.

Dach is expected to make his pro debut during the IceHogs’ home opener against the Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday night at the BMO Harris Bank Center. The 18-year-old was selected third overall in this year’s NHL draft after tallying 73 points (25 goals, 48 assists) in 62 games for the Saskatoon Blades in the WHL.

Dach can stay with Rockford for 14 days during his conditioning stint, which would mean up to five AHL games.
