Brent Seabrook didn’t travel to Winnipeg for the Blackhawks’ game Thursday against the Jets after participating in the morning skate and being a healthy scratch Wednesday against the Avalanche.

The defenseman is “undergoing further medical evaluation,” according to team physician Dr. Michael Terry. Seabrook, who has four points (three goals, one assist), was a healthy scratch for the third time this season Wednesday. The 34-year-old has four-and-half years remaining on his contract that carries a $6.875 million salary cap hit.

The Blackhawks will also visit Denver on Saturday to play the Avalanche. It’s unknown if Seabrook will join the team there.

Note about NHL roster movement

The NHL’s annual holiday roster freeze begins at 11:59 p.m. Thursday and lasts until 12:01 a.m. Dec. 28. No trades, waivers or loans can be done during this team, but teams can still make recalls and claim players who were waived before the freeze.
