Drake Caggiula scored his first goal with the Blackhawks on Friday in Buffalo against the Sabres.
Defenseman Gustav Forsling fired a pass from the blue line to Caggiula, who backhanded the puck past Carter Hutton to give the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead in the first period.
Chicago acquired Caggiula in a four-player trade in December that saw defenseman Brandon Manning and prospect Robin Norell head to the Oilers. Caggiula had seven goals and four assists with an average 14:03 of ice time in 29 games this season with Edmonton. He did miss some time with a hand injury.
Caggiula didn’t report to Chicago right away as he waited for his visa to be approved.
The 24-year-old Caggiula posted a career-high 20 points last season with Edmonton. His contract runs through the 2019-20 season with a $1.5 million annual salary cap hit.
