The Blackhawks have six regular-season games remaining and are trying to return to the Stanley Cup playoffs after a one-year absence. Each day until the Blackhawks are officially eliminated from playoff contention, Second City Hockey will breakdown their chances at a playoff spot.

Wednesday’s results

The Blackhawks were idle.

The Avalanche broke a tie for the second wild card in the Western Conference with a 4-3 win over the Golden Knights. The Stars maintained their wild-card lead with a 2-1 win against the West-leading Flames.

Thursday’s scoreboard watch

The Blackhawks visit the Sharks in San Jose.

The Oilers, who are tied with the Blackhawks on 76 points, host the Stars. The Canucks will have to beat the Kings in Vancouver to stay alive in the playoff hunt.
