Keeping up with former Blackhawks in 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs: Round 1 recap

Artemi Panarin and Teuvo Teravainen lead the way among players advancing to the second round.

There are several former Blackhawks players set to compete in the second round in the playoffs along with local products J.T. Compher of Northbrook (Avalanche) and Ryan Dzingel of Wheaton (Blue Jackets).

Former Chicago Steel defensemen Jamie Oleksiak (Stars) and Jaccob Slavin (Hurricanes) and head coach Dan Muse (Predators assistant) will also be in the playoffs.

Oleksiak (2008-10) and Slavin (10-13) played with the Steel, while Muse coached them to the 2017 Clark Cup championship, the first in the team’s history before leaving for Nashville.

Eastern Conference

Blue Jackets 4, Lightning 0

Adam Clendening, Artemi Panarin (Blue Jackets)

Panarin scored two goals with three assists in Columbus’ first-round sweep of Tampa Bay. Clendening had an assist in Game 4.

Bruins 4, Maple Leafs 3

Joakim Nordstrom (Bruins), Bruce Cassidy (Bruins coach)

Nordstrom tallied three points (two goals, assist), including a goal and an assist in Game 7.

Islanders 4, Penguins 0

Nick Leddy, Andrew Ladd (Islanders)

Leddy scored a goal in Game 1 of the Islanders’ first-round sweep of Penguins. Ladd is injured.

Hurricanes 4, Capitals 3

Trevor van Riemsdyk, Teuvo Teravainen, Jaccob Slavin (Hurricanes)

Teravainen tallied three goals and an assist. Slavin racked up nine assists, including three in Game 7. Van Riemsdyk was held without a point.

Avalanche 4, Flames 1

Michael Frolik (Flames), J.T. Compher (Avalanche)

Compher had two goals and an assist. Frolik was held without a point.

Jamie Oleksiak (Stars), Muse (Predators)

Oleksiak did not record a point in four games.

Sharks 4, Golden Knights 3

Brandon Pirri (Golden Knights), Doug Wilson (Sharks GM)

Pirri only skated in Game 7 and had five shots.

Byfuglien racked up two goals and six assists.
