Elsewhere in Chicago sports, Ryan McMahon hit a RBI single in the eighth inning to lift the Rockies past the Cubs 6-5. The White Sox fell 12-1 to the Nationals.

On Tuesday, the United States women’s national team begins its quest to repeat as World Cup champions when they play Thailand. The USWNT has four Red Stars players: goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher, defender Tierna Davidson and midfielders Morgan Brian and Julie Ertz. The Sky host the Mercury at Wintrust Arena. The Fire visit Saint Louis FC for a matchup in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup. The Cubs and White Sox both play.
