Elsewhere in Chicago sports, Red Stars goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher posted a two-save shutout for the United States in a 2-0 win over Sweden to win Group F at the World Cup. The USWNT (Red Stars’ Morgan Brian, Tierna Davidson, Julie Ertz and Naeher) will face Spain in the knockout round Monday.

The Bulls selected guard Coby White of North Carolina with the No. 7 overall pick and forward Daniel Gafford of Arkansas in the second round in the NBA draft. The Bears signed sixth-round cornerback Duke Shelley to a rookie contract to lock up the final member of their 2019 draft class. Adbert Alzolay struck out five and walked two in his first MLB win in the Cubs’ 7-4 victory over the Mets.

On Friday, the White Sox begin a road series against the Texas Rangers. The Cubs continue their series against the Mets.
