The Blackhawks believe they have the future of the franchise in Kirby Dach, who they selected with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 NHL draft this weekend in Vancouver.

And they’re pretty proud of the selection, so much so that they’ll have a press conference to introduce Dach to Chicago at 11 a.m. Monday at the United Center. The event will occur at the same time as the reigning World Cup champion United States women’s national team’s round of 16 match against Spain in France at the World Cup.

The press conference will be broadcasted on NBC Sports Chicago and streamed live on Blackhawks.com, the team’s app and Facebook page. Dach will be joined by general manager Stan Bowman and vice president of amateur scouting Mark Kelley.

This is an unprecedented event for the Blackhawks under Bowman’s tenure, which reaches 10 years on July 14. He’s made 10 first-round picks with Dach joining defenseman Adam Boqvist (No. 8 in 2018) as the only top-10 selections.

Boqvist signed his entry-level contract just nine days after he was drafted last year, so the team could be having Dach sign his deal Monday.
