The Blues are one win away from their first Stanley Cup championship and can win it on home ice.

The Blues have that opportunity after defeating the Bruins 2-1 in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final on Thursday at TD Garden to take a 3-2 series lead. Rookie Jordan Binnington made 38 saves and Ryan O’Reilly scored a goal and assisted on David Peron’s third-period tally.

St. Louis can win the Cup in Game 6 on Sunday at Enterprise Center.

History is somewhat on the Blues’ side as 18 of the 25 times a team has won Game 5 in a 2-2 series they’ve gone on to win the Cup. If they win, they’d become the fourth team this decade to lift the Cup on home ice and the first since the Blackhawks in 2015.

The Bruins led by former Blackhawks defenseman and assistant coach Bruce Cassidy are trying to force a decisive Game 7 for Wednesday back in Boston. Former Blackhawks winger Joakim Nordstrom has one goal and three assists in the Cup Final.
