2020 World Junior Championship: Day 6 recap on Blackhawks prospects

Each day throughout the World Junior Championship tournament, Second City Hockey will provide updates on how Blackhawks prospects Antti Saarela and Michal Teply are performing. For more coverage on the tournament, visit the World Juniors section.

Switzerland 5, Finland 2

Saarela had three shots on goal, was on the ice for one goal against and was 3-for-9 on faceoffs in 14:25 for Finland. He has no points, seven shots on goal and is 46.2 percent (19-for-41) on faceoffs in four games.

Canada 7, Czech Republic 2

Teply had a secondary assist, two shots on goal, lost his lone faceoff and was on the ice for one goal against in 18:25 for the Czech Republic. The right wing logged 9:24 in the second period, which tied Canadian defenseman Bowen Byram (Avalanche) for the most ice time in one period.

Teply has five assists (three primary) while averaging 20:20 minutes per game in four outings.

What’s next

Both Saarela and Teply will play in quarterfinal games Thursday their respective teams are the underdogs. Finland faces off against the United States at 10:30 a.m. then the Czech Republic meets Sweden at 1 p.m. All playoff round games will be broadcasted on NHL Network.
