The NHL and Adidas are planning to reveal reverse-retro jerseys in mid-November, according to Sports Business Journal.

Teams will wear the jerseys during select games for the 2021 season, which the NHL is targeting to start Jan. 1.

Fourth jerseys for the Ducks, Flyers, Golden Knights and Penguins have already been leaked online. The new threads for Anaheim, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are all call backs to the 1990s. Vegas’ has a design inspired by the Las Vegas Thunder, which played in the IHL from 1993 to 1999.

What are the Blackhawks options for this?

The Blackhawks appear to have four jerseys to work with: 1926 white, 1937-55 barber poles, 1940-55 white or 1996-2009 black alternates.

The colors wouldn’t be changed around for the 1926 white, which is just the 2019 Winter Classic reversed, and the black alternates. They could switch the red and white from the 1940-55 ones or flip the black and white. Even with switching around the colors, it’s hard to see the barber poles work with this reverse retro-style.

The series appears to be 1990s themed, so it seems reasonable to believe the Blackhawks will go with black alternates. By doing this the team would also save the 1926 white jersey for 2026 when the team will celebrate its 100th anniversary.
