Jonathan Toews is giving back.

The Blackhawks captain donated $100,000 through his foundation to the Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund, according to Emily Kaplan of ESPN. The funds will benefit local nonprofits serving the most vulnerable Chicago residents.

Toews is the first Blackhawks player to publicly donate funds to a response fund dedicated to helping people during the coronavirus pandemic.

The NHL paused its season March 12 with the Blackhawks having 12 games remaining on their schedule and six points back of the second wild card in the Western Conference.
