The Blackhawks canceled their 13th annual fan convention, which was scheduled for July 24-26 at Hilton Chicago, due to the coronavirus Wednesday.
Full refunds for hotel room deposits and/or convention passes will be processed automatically by the fans’ point of purchase, the team said.
The NHL has yet to decide if or when the season will resume, but they have postponed three major League events which were scheduled for June — scouting combine, draft and awards show — with hopes to finish the 2019-20 campaign in some form into the summer. There also hasn’t been a decision made on whether fans will or will not be able to attend games if they return.
“My guess at this point is we’re probably going to be playing into the summer, which is something that we can certainly do,” NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said on Fox Business Network on Wednesday morning.
The Blackhawks started hosting an annual fan convention in 2008.
