All four Stanley Cup Playoffs series are at 3-1, meaning the entire quarterfinal round could be over by the end of Tuesday’s action. Two of those Game 5s will be played Monday.
The Eastern Conference is up first, where the Lightning owning a 3-1 series lead over the Bruins following 3-1 win in Game 4 on Saturday. Two goals from Ondrej Palat helped Tampa Bay take the commanding series lead, putting the Lightning one game away from their fourth conference final appearance in the last six seasons.
The Stars haven’t been to the Western Conference Final since 2008 but could make it there with a win over the Avalanche in Monday’s Game 5 in Edmonton. The topsy-turvy nature of this series continued in Sunday’s Game 4, with Dallas racing out to a 3-0 lead, Colorado responding with two goals in the second and then a pair of Dallas goals in a 32-second pan of the third that put the game away and moved the Avalanche to the brink of elimination.
