Drew Commesso, G (NCAA)

Slavin isn’t the only prospect nominated for a post-season award: Commesso (second round, 2020) has nominated for Mike Richter Award for the NCAA’s Top Goaltender. Commesso is a freshman at Boston University.

Landon Slaggert, LW (NCAA)

Slaggert (third round, 2020) was promoted to the top-line for Notre Dame not long after his return from winning gold with the US National team at the 2020 World Junior Championship. He’s had steady production all season, including an assist in his last two games.

Wyatt Kaiser, D (NCAA)

Kaiser (fourth round, 2020) picked up another assist in his last two games for Minnesota-Duluth. Despite being only a freshman, Kaiser has been playing top-pairing minutes with time spent on the power play.

Louis Crevier, D (QMJHL)

Crevier (seventh round, 2020) scored his first goal of the season against Victoriaville last Sunday.

Lukas Reichel, W/C (DEL)

Reichel (first-round, 2020) has one assist in his last three games and was recently promoted to the top line for Eisbaren Berlin.

Artur Kayumov, LW (KHL)

Kayumov (second-round, 2016) is having another solid season with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. He has 29 points (12 G, 17 A) in 51 games, including the game-typing goal on Thursday against SKA.

Jakub Galvas, D (Liiga)

Galvas (fifth-round, 2017) returned from injury on Jan. 29th and is back playing in the top four for Jukurit in Liiga. He has nine points (2G, 7A) in 27 games. He also played for the Czech Republic Euro Hockey Tour tournament.

The Blackhawks are on the clock to sign him as they hold his NHL rights only until June 1, 2021. Powers reported that there’s interest on both sides to get a deal done before that deadline.

League Updates

The Rockford IceHogs’ season opener was delayed a day due to COVID-19 issues with their original opponent, the Cleveland Monsters. The IceHogs will instead host the Chicago Wolves on Saturday for their opening night.

As in the previous report, the WHL and OHL are still waiting to get their 2021 seasons started. While the OHL season start is still undetermined, the WHL announced recently that it will begin their season on Friday, Feb. 26 with a 24-game schedule to be announced at a later date.
