2025 Blackhawks Top 25 Under 25: Honorable mentions

The 2025-26 season isn\'t too far away, whether you want it to be or not! Before we get to that, though, it\'s time for an annual tradition like so many others: Second City Hockey\'s Top 25 Under 25 rankings!

The 2025 version of Second City Hockey’s Top 25 Under 25 rankings opens with a trio of players who were included on ballots but did not earn enough voting points to make the 25-man list and are presented in alphabetical order:

Jack Pridham

Position: Right wing Birth date: Oct 08, 2005 (19) Acquired via: Third-round pick (92 overall) in 2024 NHL Draft 2024-25 Team: Kitchener Rangers (OHL) 2024-25 season stats: 54 points (27 G, 27 A) in 48 regular season games, 13 points (7 G, 6 A) in 16 playoff games Size: 6-foot-1, 176 pounds Contract: Unsigned Rankings: 24 (Dave), Unranked (Eric, LBR, Zack) Last T25U25 ranking: No. 23

Pridham\'s mild slide down the rankings has more to do with another wave of incoming prospects than anything he did poorly last season. It was a solid year in the OHL for Pridham, pacing at over a point per game during the regular season while continuing to be one of his team\'s more consistent producers in the postseason as well.

He may end up back with Kitchener next season as well, following a change in Pridham\'s hockey plans, which were originally sending him to Boston University. Instead, Pridham confirmed in early July that he\'s attending Blackhawks training camp in hopes of nabbing an NHL contract.

Jack Pridham says he won’t be attending Boston University and is hopeful to earn a contract with the Blackhawks but would return to Kitchener in the OHL otherwise:

Pridham feels like a bit of a longshot to make the NHL roster, so it seems like another OHL season is in his future. A dominant year in that league would offer more encouragement about any possible long-term role for Pridham in Chicago.

Samuel Savoie

Position: Left Wing Birth date: March 25, 2004 (21) Acquired via: Third-round pick (81st overall) in 2022 NHL Draft 2024-25 Team: Rockford IceHogs (AHL) 2024-25 season stats: 22 points (7 G, 15 A) in 72 regular season games, 6 points (2 G, 4 A) in 7 playoff games Size: 5-foot-10, 190 pounds Contract: Two-years, $846,666 AAV (entry-level contract) Rankings: 23 (Dave), 24 (LBR), Unranked (Eric, Zack) Last T25U25 ranking: No. 22

The big picture on Savoie was always framed with an eye towards an NHL future, where his ferocious pursuit of the puck seemed like it would translate better than it would at any other level of hockey. Still, a little more production would\'ve been expected out of Savoie in the AHL compared to the 22 points in 72 games that he amassed with Rockford last season. There was a nice spurt of six points in seven postseason games, although that\'s not anywhere near a large enough sample for meaningful discussion.

Savoie showed that he remains unafraid of the game\'s more physical aspects:

And that physicality could serve Savoie very well at the next level. But improved hands and decision making, resulting in more goals and assists and points, could go a long way towards helping Savoie make the leap from the AHL to the NHL. He seems to be one of the players on the cusp of that move now and will remain as one of the prospects to watch when training camp begins next month.

Mason West

He remains a long-term project with enticing physical tools that must be molded to the hockey world, given his relative inexperience on the ice as a two-sport athlete for much of his life. While there may be continued calls for him to pursue a football career, West has maintained since being drafted in April that his sports future is in hockey, and that future will ramp up significantly once he hangs up for cleats for good following his senior year with Edina High School.
