Blackhawks 2017 playoff picture: April 3

The Chicago Blackhawks have three games left in the regular season and have clinched the Central Division and the top spot in the Western Conference. Each day until the end of the regular season, we’ll breakdown who they could possibly face in the first round and other seeding in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Sunday’s results

The Chicago Blackhawks fell 3-2 to Boston as it failed to gain ground in the President’s Trophy race. Nashville dropped a 4-1 decision at St. Louis for the Blues to take control of third place in the Central. The Predators clinched the eighth and final Western Conference playoff spot with Arizona’s win over Los Angeles. Minnesota broke out of its slump with a 5-2 win over last-place Colorado.

In the Pacific Division, Anaheim defeated Calgary to take over first place while San Jose edged Vancouver, 3-1, to create a three-point cushion over the Flames for third place in the Pacific.

Monday’s scoreboard watch

If the playoffs started today, the Hawks would be the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference and play the No. 2 wild card team — Nashville.

There no Western Conference teams in action Monday.

In the Eastern Conference, the Atlantic-leading Montreal visit Florida and third-place Toronto crosses the boarder to play in Buffalo. Ottawa, who is tied with Toronto at 91 points, is in the second wild-card spot and will visit Detroit.
