Here's a look at the Blackhawks' playoff positioning heading into Wednesday's games.

The Chicago Blackhawks have nine games left in the regular season and are battling for playoff positioning. Each day until the end of the regular season, we'll breakdown their chances at a spot and seeding in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Tuesday's results

The Hawks overcame a 4-1 deficit to force overtime, but Vancouver was able to find the back of the net for the win. With the overtime loss and Minnesota’s win over San Jose, Chicago holds a six-point lead for the top spot in the Central Division and Western Conference. St. Louis moved into third place in the Central with a win over Colorado.

The Pacific Division race remained unchanged with San Jose and Calgary both unable to find a point.

Wednesday's scoreboard watch

If the playoffs were to begin Wednesday, the Hawks would be the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference and play the second wild-card team — Nashville.

There are only three games on the schedule and only one features Western Conference teams. Edmonton visits Anaheim in a battle of 2 vs. 3 in the Pacific Division. It’s a four-team race in the Pacific, separated by only five points.
