Blackhawks 2017 playoff picture: March 29

The Chicago Blackhawks have six games left in the regular season and are battling for playoff positioning. Each day until the end of the regular season, we’ll breakdown their chances at a spot and seeding in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Tuesday’s results

Anaheim, San Jose and Edmonton all clinched a playoff spot. The Ducks beat the Canucks in Vancouver, while Edmonton defeated Los Angeles at home and the Sharks edged the Rangers in overtime in San Jose.

In the Central Division, Minnesota and Nashville both failed to gain ground in the division. Minnesota continued to stumble with a home overtime loss to league-leading Washington while Nashville’s four-game win streak was snapped in Boston.

Wednesday’s scoreboard watch

If the playoffs started Wednesday, the Hawks would be the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference and play the No. 2 wild card team — St. Louis.

Chicago visits the defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins — the first playoff team for the Hawks to face since they clinched their own postseason spot. St. Louis will also be on the road when they visit Arizona.
