Blackhawks release 2017 Winter Classic alumni game roster

Eric Daze, Daniel Carcillo, and Jamal Mayers are part of the Chicago Blackhawks’ roster for the alumni game at the upcoming Winter Classic, the team announced Friday. The team will face an alumni roster from the St. Louis Blues, who will meet the Hawks in the actual Winter Classic on Jan. 2, 2017.

Daze, 41, is one of the more notable names on the list. He was forced to retire at age 30 due to health issues, but during his early 20s he was one of the best reasons to tune into the Hawks. Over the first eight years of his career, he averaged 28 goals and 21 assists per season.

Another name on the roster who put up big numbers in his prime is Troy Murray. In 1985-86, Murray won the Selke Trophy with the Blackhawks after recording 45 goals and 99 points (both career-highs) in 80 games. And in goal, there will be Jimmy Waite, who currently serves as the Hawks’ goaltending coach.

The alumni team will be coached by Hall of Famer Tony Esposito and Cliff Koroll.
