Blackhawks’ Artemi Panarin helps Russia win bronze medal at World Championship
The superstar winger scored 17 points in the tournament.
Chicago Blackhawks forward Artemi Panarin left the World Championship with yet another medal Sunday.
The 25-year-old won the bronze medal with Russia after a 5-3 win over Finland at Lanxness Arena in Cologne, Germany. It’s the second straight year Panarin has claimed bronze at the World Championship. He also won silver at the 2015 Worlds.
Panarin scored a tournament-high 17 points and 13 assists, including one in the win over Finland, prior to the gold-medal game between Canada and Sweden.

It’s the second straight year he has finished in the top 3 in scoring at Worlds. In 2016, he was second with 15 points, only behind Russian teammate Vadim Shipachyov’s 18 points. He also played for Russia at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

Panarin scored a career-high 31 goals with 43 assists in his second season with Chicago. Despite back-to-back 70-plus point seasons, Panarin struggled in the postseason by recording one assist in four playoff games.
