It’s been a fairly quiet Blackhawks training camp so far, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Thursday’s practice offered some newsier items, though, starting with the composition of practice groups, which is offering some insight into who could be skating at the NHL level to start the season and who’s going to be driving up I-90 at some point in the next few weeks.
CHGO’s Jay Zawaski shared the groups on Bluesky and pointed out the pair of first-round picks who seem to be trending towards another stint in Rockford:
There are two Blackhawks rosters today. One appears to be the Rockford team, and it includes Kevin Korchinski and Nolan Allan.

Another name on that possibly Rockford-bound list of note is Nick Lardis, who torched the OHL last season with 71 goals but will need to prove that goal-scoring prowess in the professional ranks. Notable names within the group that appear more NHL-bound include: Oliver Moore, Ryan Greene, Colton Dach, Ethan Del Mastro and Artyom Levshunov.
Coach Jeff Blashill did say that nothing has been set in stone, however:
Blashill says he’ll move some guys in and out of the “NHL group.” Some of the guys on Team 2 still have a chance to make the NHL roster.

Here’s a glimpse at the Team 1 lineup:
Here is how Team 1 is lining up today: Donato-Bedard-Burakovsky Teravainen-Nazar-Bertuzzi Foligno-Dickinson-Mikheyev Dach-Greene-Lafferty Moore-Reichel Vlasic-Rinzel Kaiser-Levshunov Del Mastro-Murphy Grzelcyk-Crevier

Blashill also provided some injury updates, which could have ramifications for the pair of preseason games coming up this weekend:
Blashill says Spellacy will return to practice tomorrow and should play over the weekend. Slaggert, Savoie, and Seney will continue to skate on their and won't play this weekend.

Chicago is in St. Louis on Saturday and in Minnesota on Sunday. Time to earn roster spots appear to be running out for those on the fringe, so this weekend’s back-to-back slate could be a place for someone to stand out above the crowd.
