Blackhawks Bryan Bickell clears waivers, reassigned to AHL

For the second time this season, Chicago Blackhawks forward Bryan Bickell has cleared waivers and been reassigned to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.

The Blackhawks placed Bickell on waivers Saturday and no team claimed by the noon CT Sunday deadline. Chicago has also attempted to trade the 29-year-old forward, who has a $4 million salary cap hit, throughout the offseason.

Bickell, who was a healthy scratch the last four games, spent nearly all of November in Rockford where he recorded 14 points (seven goals and seven assists) in 12 games for the IceHogs. Chicago will save $950,000 in salary cap space with Bickell in Rockford.

Chicago rewarded Bickell with a four-year, $16 million contract after he tallied nine goals and 17 points in the 2013 Stanley Cup playoffs. He has no goals and two assists in 23 games this season, and five assists during the Hawks’ Stanley Cup run last season.

Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville told reporters after Sunday’s morning skate, he is not anticipating the team recalling a forward to fill Bickell’s spot.
