Blackhawks fans cheer for Joel Quenneville during Jeremy Colliton’s pregame introduction

The Blackhawks did not introduce Jeremy Colliton prior to his debut as the team’s head coach last Thursday after firing Joel Quenneville. In Colliton’s second home game Tuesday night, they did do a pregame introduction and the Chicago crowd cheered for Quenneville with a chorus of “Q.”

The Blackhawks’ decision to fire Quenneville wasn’t a popular choice amongst fans. He won the Stanley Cup three times with Chicago since 2010 and is the second-winngest coach in franchise and league history.

And the team’s 0-2-1 start under Colliton surely doesn’t help make the move any better for some.

Chicago was outscored 8-3 in its first two games under Colliton, including a 4-0 road loss Saturday in Philadelphia. The Blackhawks bounced back by taking a two-goal lead Monday in Carolina, but allowed two power-play goals in 66 seconds in the second period and Sebastian Aho added the game-winning goal in overtime for the Hurricanes.
