Blackhawks games to begin live streaming from CSN Chicago on Nov. 15
Another way to watch Blackhawks games if you’re subscribed to CSN Chicago.
Chicago Blackhawks games broadcast by CSN Chicago will also be available via live stream starting with a Nov. 15 matchup against the San Jose Sharks. The new way to watch games was announced by CSN Chicago on Friday night.
In order to be able to live stream games, you’ll need to already have a subscription to CSN Chicago through a cable or satellite provider. The streams, which will also include pregame and postseason coverage, will be available on CSNChicago.com and via the NBC Sports app.
The press release lists Comcast, DIRECTV, DISH Network, AT&T U-verse, Mediacom, RCN, WOW!, Time Warner Cable, and Charter as providers that’ll allow access, although it suggests checking here for details on others. For the sake of transparency, CSN Chicago is owned by Comcast, which is an investor in Vox Media, the parent company of SB Nation and Second City Hockey.
Not every game will be available via live stream because some games are carried exclusive by NBC, NBCSN, or WGN. Games on NBC and NBCSN were already available via NBC Sports’ streaming service, and now they’ve filled out their offering with the local broadcasts.
This isn’t a complete solution for cord cutters because it still requires a cable or satellite subscription. That remains the easiest way to watch every Blackhawks game due to the NBC TV right deal and blackout rules with NHL’s streaming service.
