Blackhawks’ Gustav Forsling received 15 stitches after taking puck to the face vs. Canadiens

Gustav Forsling is finding the puck this season. But that wasn’t a good thing Tuesday night in Montreal.

Forsling took a puck to the mouth with less than 3 minutes left in the Blackhawks’ 3-1 win. The Swedish defenseman was struck by a puck after it rung off the crossbar. He switched sweaters after coming to the bench as blood had trickled onto the one he was wearing.

Forsling received 15 stitches, most of them inside his mouth, after the incident reports Mark Lazerus of The Chicago Sun Times.

Forsling has played in all four games this season for the Blackhawks. He has three assists while mostly logging minutes on the third line.

The 21-year-old Forsling is in his second season with Chicago. He split time between Chicago and the AHL last season, with five points (two goals, three assists) in  38 games for the Blackhawks and eight points (a goal, seven assists) in 30 games with the IceHogs.
