Blackhawks interested in undrafted free agent Victor Ejdsell, per report

The Chicago Blackhawks are among at least three NHL teams interested in undrafted free agent forward Victor Ejdsell, reports Swedish media outlet NWT.se.

The Nashville Predators and Detroit Red Wings are also linked to the 21-year-old. Ejdsell also attended one of the first-round games between the Hawks and Predators in Nashville. His North American trip ended Wednesday.

“Now I and my agent choose the clubs myself are interested in,” Ejdsell told the newspaper.

Ejdsell, who weighs in at 214 pounds and 6-foot-5, scored 25 goals and 57 points for BIK Karlskoga in Allsvenskan, Sweden’s second-highest league. The left-handed shot added seven points (four goals, three assists) in 10 qualification games during his first full season in Allsvenskan.

“He’s evolved into a strong two-way center,” Detroit assistant GM Ryan Martin told MLive. “His move from wings to center helped his defensive game. He’s got good hands and offensive ability.”

Chicago has had success recently in signing sought after Swedish prospects. In April 2015, Hawks General Manger Stan Bowman signed then-23-year-old defenseman Erik Gustafsson to an entry-level contract.
