Kyle Baun, Jeff Glass assigned to AHL after clearing waivers

The Chicago Blackhawks reassigned forward Kyle Baun and goaltender Jeff Glass to the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs on Saturday. Both players went unclaimed after being placed on waivers Friday.

Baun and Glass are no longer waiver-exempt, so they were required to go on waivers before they could be assigned to the AHL. The other 30 teams had the opportunity to make claims, but there were unsurprisingly no bites on a couple of older minor leaguers.

Baun, 25, spent the past two seasons in Rockford after joining the organization as an undrafted free agent. He was one of the IceHogs’ best players last season with 34 points in 74 games, but lacks the skill level to put up numbers at the next level. He seems like a bit of a tweener.

Glass, 31, signed a two-year deal with the Blackhawks earlier this year after a successful audition with Rockford. He’ll likely join Jean-Francois Berube and Matt Tomkins on the IceHogs’ depth chart, although Berube will also need to clear waivers soon.
