One night after a brutal loss in Vancouver, the Chicago Blackhawks rebounded with a 4-3 overtime win against the Edmonton Oilers.
Edmonton struck first before Chicago scored three straight goals, with two of them coming from the much-maligned Blackhawks’ power play. Jordan Oesterle scored his first NHL goal in that span, and the Hawks appeared ready to run away with a 3-1 win.
The Oilers scored twice in the dying minutes of the third period, though, forcing overtime. But Patrick Kane saved the win for Chicago with some nifty stickhandling, scoring the game-winner that gave Hawks backup Jeff Glass a win in his first career NHL start.

Jeff Glass looked like a goalie making his NHL debut
He made some strong saves, he yielded some goals, and he had some moments where he was swimming all over his crease. But he gave the Hawks a chance to win, which is about all you can expect from a goalie in his first pro start.
The power play lives!
I actually thought the Hawks’ first two power plays on Thursday night were quite good, but the ones that followed were so bad that it got lost in the mix. But a pair of power play goals on Friday kept the Hawks in the game, and hopefully serve as a major boost of confidence for that unit.

Leon Draisaitl is a fine hockey player, but he is no match for Kane in the defensive zone, especially with the extra ice afforded to No. 88 during overtime. With room to work, Kane showed why he remains one of the most dynamic offensive players in the game, and again displayed his knack for delivering when his team needs it most.
