Watch: Blackhawks’ Patrick Kane scores overtime winner vs. Red Wings

Patrick Kane scored two goals, including the overtime winner, to lift the Blackhawks to a 5-4 victory over the Red Wings on Wednesday night at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.

Jonathan Toews rushed up the ice and was denied by Jonathan Bernier before finding Erik Gustafsson at the hashmarks of the left faceoff circle. The defenseman sent the puck to a wide-open Kane near the net to deliver the game-winner with 2:18 remaining in the three-on-three extra session.

Kane tallied his first goal during the second period to give the Blackhawks a 4-1 lead heading into the intermission. He snipped a shot past Jimmy Howard on the blocker side to extend his point streak to 19 consecutive games.

Kane has scored 350 regular-season goals and 50 playoff tallies. He has 38 goals and 92 points in 60 games this season, and he’s on pace to break his career-high of 106 points during the 2015-16 campaign.

Clarification

An earlier version of this story misidentified Kane’s career goal total at 400. The NHL interprets a “career” total as only the regular season and separates it from a player’s playoff total. According to the league’s official stats, Kane has 350 career goals and 50 playoff goals. Second City Hockey regrets this error.
