Blackhawks place Artem Anisimov on injured reserve, recall Tanner Kero

The Chicago Blackhawks have placed forward Artem Anisimov on injured reserve, retroactively to Sunday, and recalled Tanner Kero from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League, the team announced Thursday.

Anisimov, 28, left Saturday’s game in St. Louis with the injury, and missed Tuesday’s home game against the Ottawa Senators. He will be eligible to come off injured reserve in time for next Tuesday’s game against Central Division foe Winnipeg. He has a season career-high 14 goals with 13 assists in 27 games.

Kero, 24, has a team-high seven goals with 13 assists with the IceHogs this season. He had a goal and an assist in Rockford’s 6-2 victory over the Chicago Wolves on Wednesday night. He had a goal and two assists in 17 games with the Hawks last season.

The Hawks host the Colorado Avalanche in a divisional matchup Friday at the United Center before the NHL’s three-day Christmas break.
