Blackhawks Scott Darling out with upper-body injury; Jeff Glass recalled from AHL
Glass has posted a 2.62 goals-against average and .910 save percentage in 13 games with the IceHogs this season
Chicago Blackhawks backup goaltender Scott Darling will not dress for the team’s game Friday against the New York Islanders due to an upper-body injury. In a corresponding move, the Hawks have recalled Jeff Glass from the Rockford IceHogs of the American League to serve as Corey Crawford’s backup.
Glass, 31, has posted a 2.62 goals-against average and .910 save percentage in 13 games with the IceHogs this season. The Hawks signed Glass to a minor-league contract in January before signing him to a two-year NHL contract Feb. 23 that runs through 2017-18.
Glass has bounced around the professional ranks since being drafted by Ottawa in the third round of the 2004 NHL Draft. He spent three seasons with Ottawa’s AHL club, Binghamton, before playing from 2009-16 in the KHL with six different teams. He returned to North America on a tryout contract with Toronto in 2016, but failed to make their NHL roster and was sent to their AHL club before being released.
