Blackhawks’ Scott Darling says he’ll have Cubs World Series champions mask for Winter Classic

Scott Darling grew up rooting for Chicago sports teams.

Playing for the Chicago Blackhawks is a lifetime dream for the Lemont, Ill. native. He’s seen the Hawks win a championship and been apart of another. And Wednesday night, he saw his favorite baseball team – the Chicago Cubs – win the World Series for the first time in 108 years.

Surely, Darling has heard his fare share of jokes from people about his beloved Cubs. So now that they’ve won the World Series, Darling plans to rub it in a bit to St. Louis.

Darling and the Hawks will play the St. Louis Blues on Jan. 2 in the Winter Classic at Busch Stadium, home to the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cubs and Cardinals are heated rivals just as the Hawks and Blues are.

Darling is no stranger to showing his love to Chicago sports on his goalie masks. He’s had a tribute to Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan and this season he has a “Wayne’s World” inspired mask complete with Stan Mikita Donuts.
