Blackhawks Sign Antti Raanta

Word has just come through that Finnish free agent goalie Antti Raanta has agreed to a one year deal with the Chicago Blackhawks. Raanta, 24 years old, had a 21-10-11 record with 5 shutouts, a 1.85 goals-against average and a .943 save percentage in 45 games with Assat Pori of SM-liiga. He lead his team to a championship with a league leading 1.45 GAA and .955 save % during the playoffs.

Raanta had plenty of NHL suitors including the Minnesota Wild, Edmonton Oilers and the Columbus Blue Jackets. This move most likely takes care of the back up position next season behind Corey Crawford. The Hawks do not have many NHL ready goal prospects in the system so this could be a really got fit. You never can have too much quality goaltending on your team.
