Blackhawks to sign Dominik Kahun to 2-year entry-level contract, per reports

The Chicago Blackhawks will sign German forward Dominik Kahun to a two-year entry-level contract worth $940,000 annually, according to multiple reports from German news outlets.

Kahun, 22, scored 12 goals and 41 points in 42 games this season with Red Bull EHC Muchen. His 41 points rank 14th in the league. Kahun and Muchen are going for a DEL championship three-peat this spring and hold a 1-0 series lead in the quarterfinals over Fischtown.

The Czech-born player also had two goals and three assists for Germany in their silver-medal run at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. His performance garnered the attention of at least nine other NHL teams, according to reports.

“He has made an enormous step this year, has become much more stable and mature, I am sure that he would grab it in the NHL,” German national team coach Marco Sturm told the Hamburger Morgenpost.

The 5-foot-11, 174-pound Kahun played from 2012-14 with the Sudbury Wolves in the Ontario Hockey League. Kahun, a left-handed shot, scored 71 points (22 goals, 49 assists) in 101 OHL games for Sudbury. After his stint in North America, he moved overseas to Germany to play for Munchen.
