Yet another Blackhawks draft pick has officially joined the organization.

Not even a full 24 hours after the end of his college career, 2022 second-round pick (57th overall) Ryan Greene signed a three-year entry-level deal with the Blackhawks on Sunday, brining him to the franchise on a contract through the 2026-27 season with an annual cap hit of $950,000.

Greene, who turned 21 last October, had 38 points (13 G, 25 A) in 40 games as a junior with Boston, serving as the captain for the Terriers as they reached the NCAA championship game on Saturday night before falling 6-2 to Western Michigan.

There had been some speculation that Greene would join with the Hawks around this time last year, although he opted for one more season in the NCAA for another round of development before turning pro. All reports indicate he’ll make his debut before this NHL season ends, with Chicago playing in Montreal on Monday and Ottawa on Tuesday to wrap up its regular season.

Greene was the No. 1 center for Boston but he’s projected as more of a bottom-six player at the NHL level, expected to handle a little more responsibilities on the defensive side of the ice to free up teammates who can be more lethal on the offensive side of things. That was part of the deeper dive we did on Greene’s game — along with the other Blackhawks prospects playing in the NCAA — back in February:

While we’re on the topic of Boston hockey, another Blackhawks prospect is reportedly headed that way after entering the NCAA transfer portal earlier this month.

Boisvert, who turned 19 in March, racked up 32 points (18 G, 14 A) in 37 games for North Dakota as a freshman but opted for a different program after UND head coach Brad Berry was fired following the the 2024-25 season.
