Blackhawks Sign Teuvo Teravainen

Blackhawks management and coaches have been impressed with what they have seen out of Teuvo Teravainen since drafting him in June of 2012.  General manager Stan Bowman has said that Teravainen will be an impact player once he gets to the NHL.  Some scouts have already compared the 18 year old Finish prospect to Conn Smythe winner Patrick Kane.  The thought of having two Kaners on the same ice has got Blackhawks fans pretty excited about the future.

Today the Blackhawks have agreed to a 3 year contract with the young forward.  He tallied 31 points (13 G, 18 A) for Jokerit of SM-Liiga in his native Finland this past season.  The plan is for Teravainen to participate in the Blackhawks training camp before heading back to Finland for another year of seasoning.  I can’t see how he makes the team coming out of camp, especially with so many players ahead of him on the organization’s depth chart.  There is a chance that he could play this year in Rockford if he has an impressive camp.
