Blackhawks playoff picture: April 7

The Chicago Blackhawks have less than a week left in the regular-season and are fighting for a playoff seeding. Each day until the end of the regular-season, we’ll breakdown their chances at seeding in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Monday’s results

The Winnipeg Jets shutout the Minnesota Wild to move into the second wild-card spot and prevent the Wild from clinching a playoff berth. The Los Angeles Kings are back on the outside looking in after a shootout loss in Vancouver.

Tuesday’s scoreboard watch

The Blackhawks host the Minnesota Wild in a key game (they’re all key games now) in the Central Division race. The Hawks look destined for second- or third-place in the Central, while the Wild are still looking to clinch a playoff bid. The Winnipeg Jets visit the first-place St. Louis Blues, while the Colorado Avalanche host the Nashville Predators.

Blackhawks’ outlook

The Central Division race is in day three of the final week. The Blackhawks have three games remaining, including their next two against teams currently fighting for playoff position. The Hawks need the Blues and the Predators to lose this week, and the Hawks can at least control the Blues’ fate when they play them Thursday. But first, the Hawks must take care of business at home against the Wild.

Minnesota Tuesday Chicago
St. Louis Thursday St. Louis
