Blackhawks reportedly sign Czech forward David Kampf to 2-year contract

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed Czech forward David Kampf to a two-year entry-level contract worth $925,000 annually, per Cap Friendly. The news comes after TSN’s Darren Dreger reported last week that the two sides were expected to complete a deal.

Kampf, 22, has played the past two seasons for Piráti Chomutov of Czech Extraliga, the top league in the country. He scored 15 goals and had 16 assists in 52 games this season. It’s a big improvement from his rookie season with Piráti Chomutov, when he tallied nine goals and four assists in 42 games.

The forward, who comes in at 6-foot-2 and 192 pounds, has found success at the international level for his country. He has posted 36 points in 35 games at the junior level for the Czech Republic.

Kampf is the second Czech player to sign with Chicago in as many years. Chicago signed defenseman Michal Kempny from the KHL last spring. He’ll likely serve as a depth option for Rockford rather than push for playing time in Chicago.
