Watch: Slater Koekkoek lip syncing “Love Shack” and “I Want It That Way”

The Blackhawks traded defenseman Jan Rutta and a 2019 seventh-round draft pick to the Lightning for defenseman Slater Koekkoek and a 2019 fifth-round pick Friday afternoon.

But the Blackhawks acquired more than just a defenseman in Koekkoek, they got a 24-year-old man that knows every word to The B-52’s “Love Shack.”

During the 2016-17 AHL season, Koekkoek and his Syracuse Crunch teammates participated in some lip syncing videos. According to the Crunch’s public and media relations manager Megan Cahill, Koekkoek was game to participate in the “Love Shack” video.

“Any time we asked Koekkoek, he always knew all of the words, was ready to go, and had it down,” Cahill told SB Nation’s Raw Charge. “We asked him to do “Love Shack,” he had everything memorized. He knew exactly what he was doing.”

Koekkoek can be seen wearing his No. 65 jersey in the video.

The other video Koekkoek participated in was for the Backstreet Boys’ smash hit “I Want It That Way.” But for this one, Koekkoek wasn’t as sure. He only agreed to do the video if his teammate Dylan Blujus also was in it, according to Cahill.

Koekkoek can be seen wearing a forward white visor in the video.
