The Chicago Blackhawks visit the Montreal Canadiens Tuesday night as they begin their three-game Canadian road trip.
This is the second and final meeting of the season between the two squads, and Chicago will look for a season sweep. The Hawks and Habs last met in November, where Chicago earned a 3-2 victory. The Blackhawks have not lost to the Canadiens since January 2014.
The Hawks have been rolling as of late, as they’ve been handed just three losses in their last 16 games, extending their record to 43-20-5 this season. A Blackhawks win and a Minnesota Wild regulation loss tonight will allow Chicago to take the Central Division lead as they currently trail by one point.
The Canadiens have also been on a roll lately, winning seven of their last eight games. They currently hold the lead in the Atlantic Division with 86 points, and a 39-22-8 record.
Scott Darling will return to the Blackhawks lineup Tuesday night as Corey Crawford’s backup after suffering a upper-body injury.
Although newly signed Blackhawk John Hayden joined the team yesterday, he will not play Tuesday night against Montreal. However, Coach Quenneville did mention he may get a start in a game on the road trip.
Crawford will get the nod for the Blackhawks Tuesday night. Crawford has a 27-15-3 record this season, with a 2.54 goals-against average and .919 save percentage.
Carey Price is likely to get the start in net for the Canadiens. In his 52 games played this season, Price has a 31-16-5 record, with a 2.26 goals-against average and .923 save percentage.
