Blackhawks vs. Red Wings preview 2017: Start time, schedule, and live streaming
Chicago looks to extend its franchise record road win streak to nine games.
The Chicago Blackhawks will play their final game at Joe Louis Arena when they visit the Detroit Red Wings on Friday for the second half of a back-to-back.
The Red Wings are set to move to Little Caesars Arena next season and with a Eastern Conference low 61 points they’ll miss the playoffs for the first time since 1990.
The Hawks enter the game coming off a 1-0 shutout loss against Anaheim on Thursday. Defenseman Johnny Oduya stopped a game-high five shots in his first game since being reacquired in a Feb. 28 with Dallas. He missed the first three games back with an ankle injury.
Corey Crawford will likely back his second start in as many days. He stopped 32 of 35 shots last Saturday in a 5-3 win over Nashville. With backup Scott Darling out three weeks with an upper-body and Jeff Glass having not made his NHL debut, yet, Crawford is expected to play the grunt of the minutes in net.
For Detroit, Jimmy Howard will make his first start since December due to a knee injury. 934 save percentage and 1.96 goals-against average were both among the NHL leaders when he suffered the injury Dec. 20 in a game at Tampa Bay.
Chicago has found success on the road recently, winning a franchise record eight straight games. The Hawks are one point behind Minnesota for the Western Conference lead. Minnesota also plays Friday with a matchup at Florida.
