Blackhawks vs. Sharks preview 2017: Hawks return to ice in San Jose

The Chicago Blackhawks take to the ice Tuesday night at the SAP Center to take on the San Jose Sharks in their first game back after the All Star break.

The Hawks entered the break coming off of two back-to-back losses, and look to get back on track Tuesday night. Chicago’s 30-16-5 record and 65 points puts them four points behind the Minnesota Wild for the top spot in the Central Division.

San Jose currently leads the Pacific Division with 64 points and a record of 31-17-2, and entered the All Star break with a win in six of their last seven games.

Chicago and San Jose have met twice so far this season, splitting their games with the Hawks earning a 4-1 victory and getting handed a 2-1 loss.

Marcus Kruger and Artem Anisimov did not practice with the team Monday, due to feeling under the weather. It has not yet been announced whether or not the two will take to the ice in San Jose.

With the Blackhawks placing Michal Rozsival on the IR, Gustav Forsling has been recalled from the Rockford IceHogs. In 32 games with the Blackhawks this season, Forsling has recorded one goal and three assists.

Corey Crawford will get the nod in the crease for the Blackhawks. The Central Division All Star is 18-11-3 so far this season, with a 2.57 goals-against average, and .918 save percentage.

Although unconfirmed, Martin Jones is likely to start in net for the Sharks. In his 42 games played this season, Jones has a 25-15-2 record, 2.25 goals-against average, and .916 save percentage.
