The Chicago Blackhawks kept their win streak alive on Sunday night with 4-3 overtime victory over the Dallas Stars at the United Center. Marian Hossa’s overtime winner allowed Chicago to complete a four-point weekend over the Stars.
Hossa clinched the victory in OT with a fantastic blue line shot for his fifth goal of the season. With only 29 seconds remaining in the extra frame, his one-timer sent the Hawks packing with two points.

With an assist on the night as well, Hossa now has a total of 1,100 career NHL points.
Dallas got things started in the first, putting the Blackhawks’ penalty kill to the test. Though the PK seemed to be getting on track, the Stars capitalized on their first power play of the night, with Tyler Seguin burying the puck past Scott Darling to put Dallas on the board first.

In the second period, the Blackhawks headed to their third power play of the night, looking to even the score. A turnover on the on the PP allowed for the puck to head in Darling’s direction, with a shot from Gemel Smith finding the back of the net for a short-handed tally, and his first career goal.
Just under two minutes after the Stars took a 2-0 lead, a slick pass from Jonathan Toews allowed Patrick Kane to go backhand to forehand to top cheddar past Kari Lehtonen, keeping the Hawks within one.

Despite coming out on top, the Blackhawks trailed for the majority of the game, until two goals in 56 seconds in the third gave the Hawks their first lead of the night.
It all started when Dallas forward Antoine Roussel was whistled for playing with a broken stick just over two minutes into the third. However, the Hawks’ power play opportunity was cut short when Patrick Kane was sent to the box for hooking just 30 seconds into the power play, ensuing four-on-four action.
During the four-on-four play, an incredible pass from Hossa landed right on Toews’ tape, allowing the captain to tap the puck past Lehtonen, tying the game at 2-2.

Just 56 seconds later, Artem Anisimov gave Chicago the go-ahead goal, and extended his point streak to 11 consecutive games.

With 1:20 remaining in regulation, an empty net goal from Gemel Smith tied the game at 3-3, giving Smith his second goal of the night and of his career.
In the final seconds of the third, Toews’ was unable to poke it past Lehtonen, sending the Hawks and Stars into overtime action.
Fifty seconds into the overtime period, Patrick Kane was whistled a hooking call, sending the Stars to a 4-on-3 power play. A incredible stretch save from Scott Darling kept the Hawks’ hopes for two points alive.

And then Hossa saved the day in the final minute to avoid a shootout.
In some less exciting news, Tyler Motte was taken down along the boards in the second frame of Sunday night’s game and did not return. Quenneville said Motte could miss some games with a lower-body injury, but his status is still unclear.
The Blackhawks will visit the St. Louis Blues at the Scottrade Center on Wednesday at 7 p.m. CT.
