Blackhawks week ahead: Chicago plays another weekend back-to-back

The Chicago Blackhawks drop the puck on November with a three-game week that includes a back-to-back. Chicago will host Philadelphia on Wednesday before making the trip up to Minnesota for Saturday’s game. The Hawks wrap up the week by hosting Montreal. Chicago is seven points back of first-place St. Louis in the Central Division with four other teams.

The Hawks’ AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs, will have a two-game road trip this week. Rockford visits Cleveland on Halloween then has two days off before playing in Milwaukee. The IceHogs are in first place in the Central Division with a four-point lead over Milwaukee.

Let’s take a look at the upcoming week in Blackhawks’ hockey (all times Central):

Monday, Oct. 30 – Idle

Central Division: LA at STL, DAL at VAN

Tuesday, Oct. 31 – Idle

IceHogs: Rockford at Cleveland (Columbus), 6 p.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 1 – Philadelphia at Chicago, 6 p.m. (NBCSN)

Chicago looks to avoid its fourth straight loss when it hosts Philadelphia. The Hawks have struggled having lost five of six games. Chicago lost 6-3 on Saturday at Colorado, the most goals it has scored in that span. The Flyers will play winless Arizona on Monday after a 4-2 win at Toronto.

Nashville will visit San Jose in the nightcap on NBC Sports Network.

Thursday, Nov. 2 – Idle

Go out and celebrate the 1-year anniversary of the Cubs their third World Series title.

Friday, Nov. 3 – Idle

Taylor Hall heads back to Edmonton with New Jersey on NHL Network. Anaheim also hosts Nashville in a two-game slate for the NHL.

IceHogs: Rockford at Milwaukee (Nashville), 7 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 4 – Chicago at Minnesota, 6 p.m. (WGN)

The Hawks head north to Minnesota for the second meeting of the season against the Wild. Minnesota won the first meeting 5-2 in Chicago. The two teams were scoreless after the first period then Minnesota scored once in the second. Ryan Hartman tied before Minnesota tallied four unanswered goals before Jonathan Toews found the back of the net.

Boston will host Washington on NHL Network.

Sunday, Nov. 5 – Montreal at Chicago, 5 p.m. (NBCSCH, NHLN-US, SN)

The Hawks head home to Chicago for the second half of a back-to-back when they host Montreal. Chicago will be eyeing a season sweep against the Canadiens having won 3-1 on Oct. 10 in Montreal’s home opener. Tomas Plekanec gave Montreal a 1-0 lead, but Alex DeBrincat scored his first NHL career goal and Brandon Saad followed 19 seconds later. Artem Anisimov scored Chicago’s final goal and Corey Crawford made 41 saves in front of his hometown. Despite the loss, Montreal outshot Chicago 42-25.
